Early Life and Education:
Alex grew up in Borger and Conroe Texas. His birth father passed away during the early years and later his mother remarried. He's amongst the top graduates of Borger High School class of 2004. While serving in the Reserves, he is working towards an Associate's degree at Lone Star College as well as of a Baccalaureate of Science in Politics at the University of Houston Downtown. In the Navy, he holds qualifications in human resources, disbursing, executive office management, and aviation warfare.
Military Service:
After high school, Gallegos joined the US Navy. As a Personnel Specialist, he served at PSD Mayport in Jacksonville Florida; USS Groves; USS Gettysburg. In 2009 he commissioned Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Nine in Norfolk, Virginia, and he deployed aboard the USS George H. W. Bush on her maiden deployment. His last duty of service was a Joint Chiefs of Staff, multinational institution, under the Organization of American States - the Inter-American Defense Board/College, where he served as executive assistant to the Director - Admiral Martha Herb (one of first female Navy Divers and advocate for fellow women). Here, he had the distinct honor of serving with heads of state, diplomats, and senior officials from countries in the Americas, the Caribbean, and around the world, in the joint effort for maintained peace and partnerships.
Later Life:
In late 2018, Alex's younger sister was paralyzed by a careless/drunk driver. He dropped his career and returned to Texas to assist his sister and the family. Even after years of serving in the higher positions in government, Alex remained humble and uncorrupted. His choice to focus on family and local matters is regarded by family and friends. Today, Alex devotes his time to serve in the Navy Reserve, for the Chief of Naval Operations. He founded the group Houston Helping Hands which focuses on helping those in need in the Houston and surrounding communities, now and when disaster strikes.
